This morning we left Beaufort in strong wind (20-25 knots with gusts to 30). We needed help from the dockmasters to leave our slip because of strong cross winds and current. But our big engine and bow thrusters helped us back out of the slip and swing our nose around. We put up a mizzen and staysail and motor-sailed through most of the Intercoastal Waterway and across the Neuse River.
Dolphin greeted us on our way and our Odyssey couple got this great photo of one that swam alongside the boat. Perhaps it was the same one that we met a few days ago!
We arrived back in Oriental Harbor at noon and bid our couple good-bye. We know they have learned a lot in the past week and we wish them well in the future. They both have work to do in the coming months but if they persist, they will have a robust and enduring relationship.
This evening we will meet our next Odyssey couple at the Captain’s Dinner and tomorrow we will begin our Odyssey anew- on to New Bern.
