This morning we had a real problem. At 5:30 am Bryce looked at the weather forcast and saw that we were going to have gale force winds on the sound. He called our Odyssey couple and cancelled our 6:30 departure. This was before I got a chance to look at the weather forecast. After we ate our breakfast I looked at the forecast and saw that Beaufort was predicted to have winds 20-25 knots. Once we cross the Neuse River from Oriental we are in the ICW and the water should be calmer. So I convinced Bryce to call our Odyssey couple and tell them to come.
We left Oriental at 7:30 and flew to Beaufort. This trip usually takes 4+ hours but today with the wind behind us and a sliver of sail up, we made the trip in three hours! The crossing of the Neuse River was LIVELY! Lots of blue water over the bow, but our boat handled it well and delivered us to Beaufort in record time! Now we are tied up snug to the town docks and listening to some tunes from the minstrel on the dock.
